DELECTABLES WITH DAN: CHRISTMAS EDITION DAY SIX 🎄🎁❄️☃🎅🏻
Sorry this is a little bit later than I expected, one of my tablets made me
feel really ill, so I had to lie down before I could type all of this out and
upload the photos.
Hello fellow Christmas-holics! Welcome to the 6th installation of
Delectables with Dan! Today mini Phil helped me in making some
Delectables with Dan! Today mini Phil helped me in making some
tasty gingerbread blokes! Yeah, that's what I like to call them. xD
Before we start getting down the the mixture, you're going to want to preheat your
oven to 190C/Gas Mark 5/ 350F! You'll want it to be nice and warm before you
put your biscuits in to bake.
Just buy your shit at Tesco like I did! xD Though I kind of think that
I bought it at Sainsbury's.
Empty your mix into a large bake bowl and make sure you have all that you'll
need to make the mixture. 60 ml water, 1 egg and 2 tablespoons of butter! You can
combined them all in together and mix.
Make sure that you thoroughly mix together the butter, egg and water.
If the mix should appear a little watery, as it sometimes can, simply add
a few table spoons of flour and mix again. I added 6 more table spoons of
flour before I felt that it was not watery and wouldn't run when I set it on
the cutting board to make the biscuits.
Fully flour your cutting board before putting the dough down. It sometimes
helps to flour to dough to keep the cutters from sticking into it. Make sure
that the biscuits are cut at 2.5 cm of 1 inch thick. Space them evenly on your
bake tray and bake 8-10 minutes or until the edges are rather golden and look crisp.
Make sure that your biscuits have fully cooled before you go to ice
them. Home made or store bought icing, doesn't matter at all and you
can decorate them any way you want to!
And here we have Phil checking out the gingerbread blokes making sure
that they are done and cooling nicely! :D He's so cute and such a great
help in the kitchen!
And fuck me. Just when I thought I was finished I realised that I
wouldn't have enough icing and also I left it in the ice box all night
long and into the morning...But there is a quick and simple fix for that!
You know those cans or tubs (I prefer the tubs) of whipped cream? It's
perfect for this. What you want to make sure is that the whip is softened,
not frozen. It won't work with frozen.
You'll want to combined your hardened icing with about 3-4 table
spoons of your whip. I prefer the low fat one as it tends to work better
for me, but you can use whatever kind you like! You'll want to drop that
into your bowl and mix with a spatula until the mix has a creamy, almost
frothy texture. It will have a slight cream colour to it when you finish blending
completely.
Once you have finished mixing your icing and whip together, you'll want to
place it into an icing bag or bottle, which you can do with the little rubber spatula
you used to mix it or you can use a tea spoon. It makes it far easier to ice your ginger
bread blokes when they come out of the oven.
