DELECTABLES WITH DAN: CHRISTMAS EDITION DAY THREE 🎄🎁❄️☃🎅🏻

Hello! And welcome to the third day of Delectables with Dan! Today,
we're going to do one of my favourite type of biscuit. I used the recipe
from BBC and it will be linked below! These ones are vegetarian but not
vegan-friendly. I'm sorry to all the vegans out there!

So before we start mixing any dough you're going to want to preheat your oven
to 190C or Gas Mark 5. Or if you're in the US, 375F. And you'll want to either
spray your bake tray with non-stick cooking spray or line the bake tray with grease
free baking paper!

Let's Get Doughy!
1. Get out a decent sized mixing bowl to make your mixture in. You don't want
anything to overflow on you. First, you'll want to cream your butter and sugar together until
the mixture is pale and fluffy. (You can use a hand mixer if you want, I do it old school.)
2. Next beat in your egg and vanilla essence a little at a time until the two are completely mixed
and blended into your butter-sugar mixture.

3. Personally, I like to sift my flour into the mixture. I find it works a better than just stirring
in the flour on its own. After you've sifted the flour into the mixture, you will want to mix it
all together until it forms a dough.
4. Before you take the dough out to roll it out, you'll want to flour your surface before hand so
the dough doesn't stick to it. Just a light sprinkling should do. Though there are times when I misjudge and end up with it coming our my arse...but that's another story for a different day!

5. As you begin to roll out your dough, you'll want to make sure that it is 1 cm thick or 1/2 of one inch thick. Once it's rolled out you can get your cutters out! Whatever shape, theme or style you want! Tis all a part of the Christmas magic. Press the cutter into the dough, firmly but rather carefully. Set 6. the cut-out ones on your bake tray and reuse the dough, adding more as you need until you bake tray is full. Put in to cook each tray you make for 8-10 minutes or until they have a light golden colour to them.

7. Once out of your oven, let them cool for a few minutes before you take them out and put them on a rack to cool. They must be completely cool before you go to ice them, otherwise, the icing will leave you with a liquid sugar shitstorm!
8. You can use store bought icing if you wish (like I did) or you can make your own using icing sugar.
To do this you'll want to use 400g of icing sugar and adding water to it in a bowl until it creates a lovely smooth, creamy texture. You can then put it in an icing bag or divide it into small bowls, add food colouring for different colours, put that into an icing bag and then begin to ice your biscuits!
You can ice them however you want and add edible glitter, sprinkles, whatever you want! :D

The little ghosts are for the spirit of Christmas Past. I just wanted to add
something a little different to the Christmas platters this year.

(As soon as I got home from the grocery, I realised I had no fucking red food colouring, so I had to improvise and make some with some minty flavoured sparkles and white icing.) I iced my little men to have scarves and drops of icing for eyes, as I'd lost my thin tip and looked everywhere for it...only to find it by accident 2 hours later.

AND NOW WE ARE FINISHED!!
Share them with your friends, family or just eat them all yourself!
