Dan and lil Phil in NYC @ Christmas Time! DAY THREE 🎄🎁❄️☃🎅🏻
Fuck. I woke up later than I wanted to.
And I didn't even take my sleep tablets. Hurrah!
Almost getting into a semi-normal sleeping pattern! Or it could just be the fact I walked across NYC
for an entire day. Jesus Lord. I needed to get ready quickly and haul ass up to Broadway. I knew it was easy enough to get to, but it takes a bit of time and I didn't know if there would be delays on the tracks like there was the previous day.
LOST AND PHIL
So, I have the Dan and Phil Stand Up To Cancer bracelet. I took it off when I took a shower and set it down on the side of the bath. I was in a hurry to get out because there were other people waiting. (It's a community bathroom, 4 on each floor.) and I didn't want to seem like a tit by keeping them all waiting. I collected my things and slid out of the bathroom so the next person in line could go in. It wasn't until I got back in my room that I realised that my Dan and Phil bracelet was gone. I went back to the bathroom to look but it wasn't there. Flustered, I raced to the front desk to ask if anyone had turned in a bracelet. The guy behind the counter said that no one had, but to check back that evening when I returned to the hotel.
Let's fast forward to 7 hours later.
I set my bag down in my room and went back to the desk to inquire about the bracelet. It was a different guy. I asked him if anyone had found a small white bracelet with two anime like boys drawn on it and it says "Dan and Phil". He told me he didn't know about it and to check in the next morning with the bloke who works the morning shift. Well, that the fuck? Don't these people communicate? Leave a note for a co-worker or something? Fuming I returned back to my "room" my soul burning with the ache for revenge. I had to leave without it and I was devastated. How was I supposed to function without this? I didn't know what else to do, so I tweeted about it and Stand Up To Cancer UK saw the tweet and replied that they would send another one out ASAP to help me! Also, I was contacted by the Dan and Phil Shop (US and Worldwide). The US one was all sold out of them but the Worldwide store still had a few and said they would send one free of charge to me because they had gotten my letter about how important it is to me. I think it's fucking brilliant that they both were up to help me with the loss of my safety blanket really, and told me they believed I could get through any struggle. It was lovely and inspiring. I knew I just had to write about this wondrous act of charity! Both of the links are posted below!
BOOKS BOOKS AND BOOKSSo without time to waste, without my bracelet, I raced out of the hotel and onto the underground to get to the Barnes and Noble on Broadway. There, was of course, a slight delay on our second train. People stared as I cuddled lil Phil in my arms, but I just put my earbuds in and ignored their stares and comments. After all, they live in this sewer, what could they know? We boarded about 10 minutes late and raced under New York City. I always think it's amazing that we can do this, and we've had for the longest time. FUN FACT: The first underground train the world ever saw was in London, 1863. I think the 154th anniversary of The Tube is coming up in January. Don't hold me to that I can't remember the exact date.
We climbed the decrepit steps of the underground station and headed to the bookshop which was about a block away. I was still in a bit of shock seeing the state of their underground. It was filthy, there was no information, employees were bitter and cold and looked irritated when you asked a question. Well, maybe if you put the stops and direction of the line, it would be more of help. Fucking transit wankers. What the fuck does Uptown and Downtown even mean if you're not familiar with the city?!
I made it to the book shop in a few minutes and was welcomed by warmth, the smell of Starbucks and holiday music. I arrived a few minutes after the time I set, but there was only one person around so I headed to get a book that I was dying to get. I met some amazing people at Barnes and Noble that day. And thank you guys for the pre-orders!! Since they were all under 18, I don't want to post their photos without their parent's permission.
LUSH
After that, I had a few minutes to kill whilst I was walking down to the Disney Store in Times Square. Yes, I fucking walked there from the Barnes and Noble on Broadway. I wanted to see more of the city and didn't want to deal with their shit underground if I didn't have to. On my way down Broadway, I saw a Lush store. I instantly thought of my mate Natalie! I had to go in and see that they had! I was blown away by some of the scents they had in there! They even sent me away with free samples of new products! Each one of the ladies in that store were amazing to talk to. They had great personalities and knew a lot about their products. One of the best Lush shops I've ever been in for sure!
The Christmasaurus with little Father Christmas hats had to be my favourite thing in the entire shop!!

Disney / Hershey
I still want to read it as Gisney. That goddamn D has been the bane of my existence ever since I learned of its existence. I think I'd been here once before. I do remember going to the one up in Manchester with Petey and I got an Ariel stuffed plushie. She sits in my room still to this day, in mint condition! This Disney store in NYC was packed and full of Christmas shit and music. It was almost suffocating. They had like no Little Mermaid much and much to my dismay, I found out they bought the rights to sell or something like that, the Avengers merch. NONONO. Disney doesn't need to ruin it like they ruined so many classics. Fucking Hell. You can see mine and lil Phil's adventure in the store as well as Hersey World of Chocolate on my YouTube Channel. Like, Subscribe or comment :-) Much appreciated!
Not wanting to suffocate in a sea of children, we shimmied out of the store and onto the frozen air of Times Square. Once we left the Disney store, I knew that we had to turn right and continue down the street. Then the massive Hershey sign caught my eye and I knew I had to go in there to get my sister Peaches something. She's a complete chocoholic and I knew she'd enjoy not only the chocolate but the pics I'd take. (Those will be uploaded onto my Facebook soon. I might even do a photo slideshow for YouTube. We'll see cause I have so much to do these days!) We waited outside, Phil pressed into me to help shield him from the cold. I let two elderly women go in before me because they looked frozen. They both thanked me with warm smiles and cheery thanks. I was happy to help them out. Once in the store, I saw mountains of chocolate and some sweets. Personally, the prices were higher than they should be, but they have to make that tourist $$$ and Christmas is right around the corner. Anyway to rape the consumer I guess. I ended up getting her a HUGE chocolate bar that was cookies and cream flavoured. I told her that it was supposed to be for Christmas, but she's almost done eating it. She's like a conveyer belt for eating chocolate. The outside of the wrapper featured the Empire State Building and said "NEW YORK CITY". I knew she'd just love that. The line at the till was almost longer than my fucking arm, but I waited just to get the kid her treat. When I got to the till I found out that the goddamn chocolate bar was $5.15. or something like that. I knew it was over $5.00 and I was like "WOT THE FUCK?!" Inside, but rather than cause a scene in front of all the kids in there, I just smiled, paid the guy and left.FAO-FUCKED
Now this is the part of the tour that I was most wild about. I'd been to FAO ages back, like maybe 5 years ago or more! It was always my favourite part of Home Alone 2, except for the fact that the hotel is literally right across the street from the shop. But I guess it was Duncan's Toy chest they called it so maybe...? I don't know. I'm not a movie producer. I'm barely a human being, So I walked there from Times Square, confirming my directions twice. People were happy to help me and lil Phil and I said cheers and waved in thanks. Cradling Phil in my arms and against the cold air, we battled through the human traffic and began to look around for the shop. Of course there are no goddamn numbers on almost of the buildings. I saw the Apple Store and was overcome with anger. They tried to fuck me not too long ago. I still love their prodcuts, but they need to get a goddamn grip on reality. Cunts. I knew the store was around here somewhere. I saw the Plaza and snapped some photos. It felt magical and filled with Christmas wonder until I asked one of Bellhops/Doormen standing outside where FAO Schwarz was. Then he told me they closed it down. WE WALKED ALL THE FUCKING WAY HERE FOR NOTHING?! When I'd googled the store months earlier it didn't say anything about being closed or I may have overlooked it. We thanked him and didn't waste any time getting the underground to head to Union Square Christmas Market.
OUR FIRST EVER AMERICAN CHRISTMAS MARKET!
We needed to take the underground over as it was getting kind of dark and there was a hint of snow in the air.
Getting off at the Union underground stop we emerged into a world of festive cheer.
The Union Square Market was wrapped in garland and there were trees decorated with lights,
ornaments and even the little booths shined into the semi-darkness that was falling over us. I met a few people here as well and we talked literature, art and my upcoming tour dates. It was tonnes of fun to go see the shops and get a few items for Christmas. I got a lovely gold bracelet and a glass blown heart to put on my sterling silver chain. It began to snow after about an hour of being there and I knew it was time for lil Phil and me to head back. We were speckled with snow and were really filling the chill now. We took the underground, thankfully only having to make a 1 transfer. We filmed a little bit walking through Chinatown catching the snow and the crowds heading home. It was a serene moment that almost seemed to move in slow motion. It was an odd sensation, but one I will always treasure.
Thank you, everyone who came out and met me and or bought a book!
Your support is the reason I can do these things.
I will be touring a bit through the next year so do stay tuned for updates and infos!
I'll be going to Canada, the US and of course the UK!
I can't wait to see more of you guys and share my adventures with you and the Internet!
There will be a few more vlogs to come as well from the NYC trip!
