DICKCEMBER: Dip My....In Chocolate
Greetings & Salutations fellow angry bakers!
And today, whilst doing the latest instalment, I got pretty pissed off.
Fucking melting chocolate drizzling all over!
Anyway, two burned fingers, a small chocolate spill and a tonne of swearing later, Pork Chop and I have a dozen beautifully decorated chocolate coated pretzels that make great snacks and hot cocoa stirring sticks.
You will want to use melting chocolate for this as it works better, but you can use chocolate chips or mint chips as well. You will need roughly 1 small sized cup worth of chocolate melts, 12 pretzel sticks and optional Christmas coloured/themed sprinkles.
To melt your chocolate in a microwave, put the setting on medium heat and put in a microwave-safe bowl/container and heat for 30 seconds. Stir. Add another 30 seconds and stir. Your chocolate should be nice and melted. If you don't stir them, they will hold their shape and you don't want that.
While your chocolate is melting, line a tray or baking tray with baking parchment to lay your chocolate dipped pretzels down on. The chocolate will harden and won't stick to the surface and also makes sure that no chocolate breaks off when you remove them.
Carefully dip, then drizzle chocolate onto your rod...your pretzel not the rod you wish you were smothering in chocolate...Oh great, now I'm distracted. Thinkin about Chubbs and chocolate always leads my mind to places Jesus would be ashamed of. Thankfully, I don't believe in him or his voodoo (sorry if you do) so I don't have anything to worry about. Work the chocolate about halfway down, grip the shaft-I mean, evenly coat the surface of the pretzel with chocolate.
Like when you're done at the urinal, you want to give the pretzel stick a little shake. Get all the excess chocolate off of it before you lay it on the sheet. You want to make sure that there is no excess chocolate dripping especially when you add your holiday sprinkles to some of them. Now if you are adding sprinkles to your chocolate drizzled pretzels, you're going to want to put a bowl underneath to catch the excess. Carefully shake your sprinkle shaker while rotating your pretzel counterclockwise. It makes it sound like I'm doing something really precise here, but it's really not that hard.
Once you are sure that your pretzels are completely dry, carefully wrap them in clingfilm and tie a festive ribbon around then. Don't Dexter the fucking things either; a little bit of clingfilm will go a long way with these. And there you have it. Simple, tasty and cheap.
On the next Dickcember, we're going to be doing something massive so keep your eye out for the gingerbread cake! :D Hopefully, I will have that one up on Tuesday of next week. It's a many stepped, really busy blog, so be prepared to read as I tackle this massive Christmas cake.
