VEGGIEREVIEWS: Suncups

Welcome back to another instalment on the VeggieReviews series! The last one seemed to be a hit, so I'm moving along with it. Today's review is for the rice chocolate and the dark chocolate Sun Cups from Free 2b! I've not tried the mint ones yet, but I'm dying to. I've not seen them in the three shops that I've found Sun Cups at, but I'm checking out a new place tomorrow, so we'll see if they carry them! I really don't want to have to buy them online and pay all those shipping charges, especially if it's not something I'm going to like.
I was looking for something that was an alternative to peanut butter cups. I'd loved the treat when I'd had them in the past and I was having trouble finding a vegan-friendly version near me. I found them in the natural food and snacks area of my local grocery and decided to give it a whirl. (Shades of Kevin McCalister there.) I really wasn't sure what to expect, I wasn't really a fan of sunflower seeds or oil, so I wasn't sure that I'd like these at all, but since this year I've made a promise to myself to try new things, I went with it and was pleasantly surprised. I got the rice chocolate first since it's similar to milk. I've been looking for a great substitute for milk chocolate for a while; while I'm not a big chocolate fan, I like it once in a while and its nice to have options when you really want something. It was creamy and smooth with just enough of a hint of sweet. I pretty much fell in love with them from that first bite. It was similar to the peanut butter cups I've had in the past, but they had a texture that was smoother and you actually could taste cocoa not just a mess of sweet like most American candies. I decided to try out the dark chocolate ones, seeing as I love dark chocolate and so many of them are chalky to me like they have that aftertaste and it kinda dries my mouth out. I was so happy to find out that the dark chocolate Sun Cups don't have that chalky taste! Just as smooth and creamy as the rice milk version, but with this, you really get the taste of the sunflower butter. And much to my surprise, I liked it!

They've quickly become one of my favourite treats :D I can't wait to try the other things they come out with. I really hope they expand the line and do like chocolate bars or something. Maybe even vegan ice-cream treats. :O Now I have some ideas, maybe I'll create something like that for the summertime. Thoughts?

I'm going to give this one a 5/5 review! They come just like the popular milk chocolate peanut butter cups, two in a pack, easy to slip into your bag when you're on the go and they are the perfect little treat. I've got another few vegan treats to review so look for those reviews in the coming weeks. I'm really enjoying doing these reviews, sharing my thoughts in a different type of way. I'm moving forward in a better way, focusing on tasks and trying to be a part of a better community of people.
