Tattoo Talk Thursday: Poker Face // Checking In
I know I should have posted this earlier but I got distracted with working on Happiness & Homicide and watching AmazingPhil on YouNow. I'll link his stuff down below if you wanna check him out on YouTube or watch his stuff on YouNow.
POKER FACE
I'm one of those people that get tattooed that have Poker Face.
I just sit there and take it, no hint of expression on my face.
No pain. No curiosity. No happiness. No regret. Nothing.
It's like I'm listening to an insurance seminar or something.
I just don't ever show emotion! I mean, inside I'm anxious to see the new piece
and how it will look tied into to all the other work I have on me, but you'd never know it.
I rarely talk to my artist either, even the ones I've known for almost a decade that have been inking me since I was legal. We talk before and after the tattoo, have good conversations and tonnes of laughs, but somehow I can't talk during the process. On a rare occasion, I will talk a little bit during a tattoo. It's just like some kind of mental block or something.
It's not that I'm in a pain that I can't tolerate or anything, I just like to concentrate on the needles, the vibrations, the sensation of being touched by another with no expectations of me. It's a unique feeling for me and it's different ever time, even if I'm being tattooed by the same person.
There are times when I'm not listening to music and I still sit there in absolute silence. It must be unnerving for some artists, I imagine. Especially those who are tattooing me for the first time. Sometimes, I just let thoughts wash over me, get lost in them, calmed by the sensations surrounding me. There have even been a few times that I've fallen asleep. Good thing it was people I knew or they'd freak the fuck out. They usually just let me be, but in the beginning, they used to poke me or shake me to get me awake. We still laugh at this shit.
There is one thing that I hate about this, though; when they break my concentration by asking me if I'm doing okay. It's more of an annoyance than anything. Soon as they ask me 'How are you hanging on?" or "Need a break?" I can't go back into the thought world I was emersed in. It's like "Fuck you very much, I was thinking here!" If I needed a break, I would have mentioned it. Just kinda nags at me, you know? Like what, I don't know my own limits? JFC I've got about half my body covered in ink if I didn't know my limits by now then I never will. Though, when I was getting my throat and upper stomach done, most people don't handle it well, so that I did expect to be asked about those areas.
Tell me about some of your guy's tattoo experiences! I'd love to know what some of your best and worst experiences. Share your pet peeves with me. I'd love to hear them! You can send them to me via my social medias, linked down below.

THROAT TATTOO UPDATE!
It's been a little over a month since I got my throat tattoo done and I promised to share some updates on healing, some of the things I did and all that good jazz back when I got it.

There were a few days where it itched like a motherfucker. I thought I was going to lose my mind over it. Seriously. Lotion didn't help, tapping on it didn't help. If this isn't in one of Dante's circle's of Hell, he should consider adding it. Finally, I'm like fuck this shit and applied a cool cloth, like what I did when I got into poison ivy as a child. Stopped the motherfucker in its tracks. I left it on for 15-20 minutes at 3 intervals during the day and into the night. Works like a charm. If you've gotten your neck or throat done and it itches, seriously try that. The three tattoos that I had on my neck and throat area were small and never itched like that. It was like I never got them. Just moved on. Some tattoos are like that.
Day 1, freshly finished. Today, 1 month 1 week healed.
The colour tones are the same, they only look slightly different due to the light that I took
the photos in.
I still haven't worked out the coverup for the base of the throat piece, but I've got an appointment

booked to do the right side of my neck this June!
And keep your eyes out this weekend for Delectables with Dan: Dannalicious Pizza-Burger! Also, I'll be posting a blog on the London meet ups with links for the places and all other info. Hopefully, you guys will be able to come out to homebase London, but if not there are several other cities all across the UK that I will be visiting during the Little By Little Tour, this autumn! 🦁
