Delectables with Dan: It's Dannalicious! 😘🍴
Today, we're going to spice things up a little and by that I mean we're going to make a dish that is Dannalicious and by the time you pop it out of the oven, everyone's gonna be wanting a taste of what you've got.
You're going to want to line your baking dish with aluminium foil. Think of it like one of Dexter's kill rooms. Keep it clean, like there was no trace of anything ever in it. Once it is lined with foil, you're going to line it with chicken tenders. <TENDERS!!> Make sure they fill the bottom of the pan but do not stake them! A. It's gross and B. It won't cook that well. Might end up as a pile of shite, I'm not sure because I was never dumb enough to do it that way.
Drizzle chicken with a microscopic amount of extra virgin olive oil. Then sprinkle chicken with minced garlic, a pinch of salt and some basil leaves. (I prefer to use fresh but I didn't have them so I had to use the dry.) Make sure that chicken is evenly seasoned. Allow it to sit for a moment, making sure that the garlic is settling into the chicken.
Top chicken tenders with a nice thick layer of tomato sauce. You can make your own or use jarred. I usually make my own from home. I should post that recipe on here sometime. Take a bunch of work, but the payoff is lovely. It's more of a summer time thing, tomatoes taste better in summer and early autumn. Add a thin layer of seasoned breadcrumbs on top of the tomato sauce laden chicken. Yes, you want there to be a tonne of sauce in there because you're going to put the chicken-cheesey bake on top of some noodles. The sauce in the pan will also be the sauce for the noodles.
You're going to let it sit and season for an hour before putting it into bake. After the chicken has seasoned, you're going to top the chicken with mozzarella, cheddar and parmesan cheese. Sprinkle cheese with basil leaves. Remember to pre-heat your oven before you put in the dish to bake. Preheat to 170C or 325F and cook on that temperature for 2 hours. It allows the chicken to simmer and cook in the sauce evenly and adds flavour to the chicken as well as the sauce.
A half hour before you chicken bake is to come out of the oven, you're going to want to cook your noodles. You can use any sort you want or spaghetti. Add a pinch of sea salt to your water and cook noodles as the instructions on box instruct you to.
When you remove from oven the cheese should have a rich orange-red tone to it. You'll see that the sauce has bubbled up through the cheese and the basil has turned a lovely rich olive green. You'll add the chicken/sauce on top of about a cup full of noodles. You can add as many noodles and chicken as you want, totally up to you. Plate and serve with garlic bread. You can make your own or buy store bought. I usually serve it with a small salad, but I fucking forgot to do the salad with all the other shit going on at my house.
This makes enough for 6-8 people, so share with your friends, family, whoever you want! You can even freeze the chicken and sauce to heat up on another date and add fresh noodles to it!
Thanks for viewing another episode of Delectables with Dan and I'll have a new one up really soon!
