Tattoo Talk Thursdays: Knuckle Tattoos!

Tattoo Talk Thursdays

Hey, guys and welcome to the first Tattoo Talk Thursdays of 2017!
Today, we'll talk about knuckle tattoos!
I didn't get all of my knuckle tattoos done at once. I was unsure of
what I wanted. I did get the lower set done on the same day I got my hands
done. The left side reads "Faith" and the right used to read "Trust" now it's a
simple 't' on my thumb.

I got these done 5 years ago or so. It wasn't as bad as people say. It stung
a bit after I had it done and was the worst on the side of the pinkies. I guess I learned
the real value of the word 'trust'. Nothing. It's a word. A word we use to maim others
with. A word that has a bittersweet aftertaste. And soon "faith" will also be eradicated
from my skin. That's another word that is full of shit. Faith is emptiness in the end. It
makes a fool out of you, but that kiddies is for another day.

As a lot of you know, I have problems with severe anxiety and I am proud of my British blood, so
why not get something that defines me and reminds me of calming things? The famous WW II slogan, "Keep Calm, Carry On." Well, I didn't need the carry on part, it was a bit well, obvious and repetitive to me. So I went with just "Keep Calm" in a traditional tattoo font. It was something alluring about it. Something about the traditional fonts on knuckles are beautiful to me. I'm all about the aesthetics, you know? The tattooist, who was a fellow enthusiast over the slogan and tradition fonts, who himself had it tattooed on his knuckles inked me on a rather warm afternoon. The shop was done sort of like a pirate boat, the colours, the decor. Wasn't something I'd choose but it was interesting none the least.
Black and grey looks lovely on pale hands, it's something I've always thought about, so that's why I went with black and grey. The pain wasn't bad, pretty much the same as the first round of knuckle tattoos.   The sides were rather a bitch but overall, if I could do it again, I would. There's been no bleeding or real fading of any of my knuckle tattoos. You need to find someone who can do them nice, clean and properly.  But whilst on the subject of pain, we'll turn our attention to the ultimate tips of my fingers.

The most painful tattoos I've ever had and probably will ever have. I got them all over! Poznan, Poland, Las Vegas, NV and somewhere in Ohio meeting up with a Facebook girl. The first ones I got right after my 23rd birthday when I was on holiday/ tour on in Poland. I got a little heart for eternal love on my ring finger. How cliche I know, I know. And the second one was my sun sign, Libra. It was a neato little symbol and I wanted it to match my Chinese Zodiac that I have on that wrist, which is year of the Ram. Also known as year as the sheep or year of the goat. The needle burned through me. It felt like I was having my cuticles penetrated, which I basically was. Thankfully, id didn't take long. I didn't think I'd forget about the pain...but I did until I was partying in Vegas. Sadly, the alcohol had warn off by the time I headed to the strip to get inked. I wanted the male symbol on my middle finger because I wanted it to look amazing and also express my love for Austin Powers. And of course, so I wouldn't have nazi fembots on my arse, I got the female symbol on my other middle finger. I  got a Euro symbol on my pointer finger, at the time I was hiding out in Germany and was set to return there in a few months time, so when in Rome, right? I also got the sun sign for the fuckwit I was in love with at the time. I wanted to show him my complete and utter devotion. These seemed somehow even more painful than the last. Especially when that single needle hit my critical. It was hard to hold sill and keep a poker face. I couldn't let my mate know I was in pain. You can't ever show the pain. Not in my world. The soreness lasted for a little over a week. I couldn't bare to touch it and to type was like torture for me.
Then the last addition I added after a night of dabs with someone I met on the Internet. Yeah, you heard me right. I met a woman on Facebook and flew over to hang out with her. We got high had some good times and got some ink. I decided it was high time to finish my pinkies. They were the last naked parts I needed to fill. Since I'm a hopeless romantic, I filled up the spot on my right pinkie with a love letter. To go with the heart on the ring finger next to it and the love letter on my ribcage also on the same side. ONE HAND COMPLETE! Then since I have a slight obsession with the moon, I decided to finish off my right hand with the moon. Perfect. I'm going to be covering the sun sign one I got on my finger for him, probably with blackwork, but I'm not sure. Anyone have suggestions?

What about you guys? What kind of hand/knuckle/finger ink to you guys have! I'd love to see or hear about them via my social medias! The next Tattoo Talk Thursdays will deal with "The Taylor Swift"
Prepare to laugh and take the piss out of me over that one. Until next time, this is Dan signing off.

I almost didn't write this today. I've had a lot on my mind and I've hit quite a few
patches of turbulence. I might not be able to finish other blogs and upload them.
We'll just see. Also, I'm not going to be sketching anymore. Just kind of lost the mojo.
The Dan the Doodlebug 3 will be the last for a while.
