Danny Interviews: Newly Published Author Gene Brzozowski Dishes On His First Book
There are so many authors and writers who aren't open to helping other out and what they don't realise is that it only damages to the art form and the craft. I extended the offer to interview an up and coming author because I remember how I struggled when I did my first publication almost 10 years ago. It's always going to be a struggle to be an indie and self-publishing author, but if we can make it a little easier for one another, why not do it? I had a nice little chat with Gene to explore his experiences with writing, publishing and where he likes to draw his inspirations from.
Q: What inspired you to write and why did you decide to publish your first book?
Q: What inspired you to write and why did you decide to publish your first book?
A: Well, I suffered a bad break up that helped me drop 50 pounds in the gym; however, the gym was only covering half of the wound. One morning after a long shift, I decided to place my imagination onto paper. Instantly, I found it to be both therapeutic and challenging. When I had reached about 20-30 short stories; I gave myself the goal of completing a book.
Q: Since publication is different for every author, what was the process like for you? Is there any advice you want to give to people who are in a similar
Q: Since publication is different for every author, what was the process like for you? Is there any advice you want to give to people who are in a similar
A: The process of publication was definitely a learning experience for me; mainly because it had so many parts. I also learned that not everyone will believe in your goal and doubt that you will ever finish a book. With that being said, my advice to anyone that loves to write; follow your heart and complete your goals. The feeling of accomplishment is like no other.
Q. What was the hardest part of self-publishing?
Q. What was the hardest part of self-publishing?
A: In my case, I felt I was always second-guessing the way that I wrote something. On many occasions, I went back and changed a phrase or just a word in hopes of making my points clearer. Eventually, though, I had to break off the connection and publish it.
Q: Could you give us a little overview of what your book is about and why you chose this genre to write in?
Q: Could you give us a little overview of what your book is about and why you chose this genre to write in?
A: The overview of my book is simple. Each night after the gym, I sat down still hopped up on fat burners; would crack open a bottle of bourbon to mask my heartache. That night I’d write about whatever mood my mind placed me in. The book A Trail of Imagination is just that... there are 84 chapters and each story has its own genre.
Q: Now that you've published your first book, what are your plans for it? Are you thinking just ebook or softback?
Q: Now that you've published your first book, what are your plans for it? Are you thinking just ebook or softback?
A. I chose a softback book for my readers because I consider myself to be an old-school writer. I handwrote all of my stories before typing them up. I guess that I wanted my readers to hold a book, in hopes that they themselves could feel or reflect back on a tough time in their own life.
Q: What regions are you currently selling in and do you hope to expand out in the future?
Q: What regions are you currently selling in and do you hope to expand out in the future?
A. Currently, the book is being sold on Amazon in the United States. However, I do hope to expand into other regions of the world in the near future. After working emergency medicine in the streets for over twenty-four years; I am hoping that this publication will be the start of a second career.

I loved Gene's book! I couldn't put it down. I never knew what kind of emotion I was going to feel from one chapter to the next.
