TATTOO TALK THURSDAY: TATTOO PLANS

It's been months since I last went under the needle and I'm itching for fresh ink. The money I've got saved for this month goes to a gig, but next month, motherfucker I'm getting some new ink. I don't care what I need to do, I've got canvas to fill.
I've had a bit of downtime lately, so I filled most of that time with sketching. I've sketched up a few designs that I'm thinking about getting and so many more that I have to finish. Some of the designs aren't by me, but I want them so I've decided to throw this into this blog. We're going to start things off with a Breaking Bad piece. I'm a major fan of the show, and no it doesn't compare to The Sopranos. Don't even start with the comparing them, they're two different realities. Crime overlap, yes, drama overlap yes, but totally different subject matters. I want a small tribute to the show, not one of those large pieces you see all over Instagram and Twitter. It's not that there's anything wrong with it, it's just something that I'm not into. I didn't want a meth tattoo on me either, but the bee is iconic to the show; it's on the barrel of methylamine Walt & Jessee use to make their infamous Blue Sky meth. I'll probably get it on my leg as a filler piece. I think that would be really cool.

As most of you know, I love the film The Nightmare Before Christmas. I've already got Jack, Sally & Zero going up my right arm, but I'm looking to expand on that. I'm going to add the Harlequin Demon to my list of wants, as well as the Vampires with their wondrous pet vampire duckie. I've got the sketch together for the Harlequin Demon piece, and I'm working on the Vampires. I'm going to put both of them on the back of my right leg to hopefully finish 80% of all the real estate that I've got there. I started working on the thigh this past February in Stockholm and just love the vibrant colour of the piece. (Check of Davinci Tattoo Studio in Stockholm if you're interested in their work. They have an Instagram.) For this piece, I'm going to go more detail on this piece when I get it done. There will be a blog special on this.

And while keeping in tune with my love for the 90's and the images of my childhood, who else would I get but my beloved Mr Burns? He made the show as far as I'm concerned. Fuck Bart, double fuck Lisa (I can't stand that little cunt.) and fuck, well-yeah just them for now. I love Moe, we have a lot in common, but Mr Burns was just flat out hilarious. His senility, his sense of the world, his dedication to all things evil made him a humorous icon that I just couldn't get enough of. I still can't. The best thing about him was his love for his bear, Bobo, which later fell into the arms of Adolf Hitler, which cost him the war. (Remember folks, this is a cartoon, not a history lesson; though, I did get a girl to believe that WW II was the result of a little Jewish boy stealing Hitler's pencil box when he was a lad.) One of the funniest parts of the show was Mr Burns in his jimjams with the matching little hat, holding his bear. I just couldn't-I had to stop and laugh at the image on the show. I knew that I wanted that image on me. I love to sleep. It's like practice for death so I figured why not put fuse the concepts of Burns and sleep together? Thus Sleep Life was born. I like text tattoos if you couldn't catch that. HAHA.

And we're going to wrap up this segment with one last piece that I'm thinking about getting. I'm a huge fan of the Ghostbusters (1 & 2 not that remake shit) and I want to immortalise my love for some of the best films of my childhood by getting, you guessed it, another monster tattooed into my skin! In this cause, it's more of a demonic demi-god, but most people wouldn't know that just by looking at it so...I drew this piece up in January (I think) of this year. I wanted to play around with the humour in the film, while still staying true to my love of things creepy, so I went with a Gozer Good Boy design! I love the way the lettering and the little paw prints flow with the piece. I'm thinking about getting it to finish the gap of free space I have on the base of my ribs on the side and my hip. I think it would look great there and it would peek out of my jeans that are constantly falling off my ass. Win-win.

That wraps up the majority of the pieces that I'm looking to get! I have one other that I've not sketched out, so I didn't want to include that in here. We'll see as the summer passes us by what I manage to get done because I have so much shit to get done I'm working on the photo book, an illustrated short book, my full novel as well as working other jobs, home repair and trying to hold my life together as suicidal depression claws at what's left of my internal organs.
