Delectables with Dan: Something Creamy In Your Mouth

With summer sneaking out the door like a rebellious teenager, I figured it was time to do that ice cream blog that I'd talked about weeks ago. I mean, you can enjoy frozen cow titty treats any time of the year, but for some reason, they taste so much better in summer.

Goodies Needed:
1/2 of a 397g can of sweetened condensed milk
600ml double cream
1 tsp vanilla essence
50g Fruity Pebbles or whatever generic equivalent you want.
It really doesn't matter.

Once you've got all your goodies ready to go, you're going to want to add all ingredients but your cereal into a large mixing bowl and give it a good stir.

With an electric mixer/ whisk, you're going to Chris Brown your liquid until its thick and stiff. We all want something thick and stiff in the end, don't we? It will look similar to whipped cream or clotted cream when you're finished. By Chris Brown-ing your mixture I mean beat on high speed for 4-5 minutes.

Nice and thicc just like my Chubb-Baby, but nowhere as beautiful.
I mustn't let myself get carried away there, I'm not finished just yet. Remember that cereal you measured out? That is if you haven't dry-scarfed the shit.

With a rubber spatula or a stirring spoon, stir your cereal or let's be honest, what's left of it, into the cream mixture. Yeah, mix it, baby. Mix it good. You know you should. Once you've mixed the cereal into the mixture, you're going to pour it into a loaf an or freezer safe dish. With your rubber smooth the surface so that it will freeze nice and even. No one wants a lopsided ice queen.

Pretending like I'm getting kinky with Chubbs, I tightly bound the loaf pan in cling film before putting the mixture into the freezer to freeze. You're going to want to do the same with your pan/dish. It will keep out freezer burn, unwanted tastes and spills. You want your pan/ dish to look like Evan Peter's in the in Rubber Man suit. Sadly, it's not going to be that appealing, but so many of you seem to like visuals, so I'll include a picture for my fellow perverts. It's going to take some time to freeze, so why not grab your lover and that extra roll of cling film that you keep for occasions such as these and enjoy yourself before it's ice cream time.

Allow your ice cream mixture to freeze for 5-6 hours before removing it to serve. If you take it out at 5 hours like I did,  you should have the perfect texture and level of freeze to your ice cream. It really depends on your freezer and the temperature you keep it at. I think mine is two degrees below freezing or something like that. I know it's not on the coldest setting possible, mainly because it draws more electricity and I'm a cheap bastard.

Carefully remove the cling film from the dish/pan and serve with an ice cream scoop. Ice cream will be creamy and easy to scoop out. Top with toppings if desired. Make sure that when you put any leftovers in the freezer you tightly wrap it in cling film just as you did the first time around; You don't want any shit freezer flavour crawling in and taking up residence in your delicious dairy delectable.

If you want me to try to re-create the cereal ice cream with different cereals/flavours let me know via the Delectables with Dan Twitter page or Facebook page! Yes! Delectables with Dan has become its own thing now! I'm looking to expand it further, try new things and who knows maybe one day do a Delectables with Dan book! That would be a whole lot of work and logistics, but maybe.

The first spoonful hit me like a fruity, yet vanilla wave of pleasure.
It was smooth and velvety.
A perfect composition.

*Since a lot of people from the US do read this blog, heavy cream is like the US version of double cream.*
