DAN THE DOODLEBUG: Darkness & Delicious Treats ✏️✏️✏️
Last month I did quite a lot of drawing, most of the pieces aren't finished but I really don't like publishing finished pieces. I don't want to sound like a self-absorbed arsehole here, but I've seen my work stolen before and I really don't want that happening again. One of my Evan Peters pieces was stolen and was sold on t-shirts, mugs and phone cases and someone on Facebook brought it to my attention and was like "What the fuck?" The woman made thousands and refused to take the design down until I took legal action. I know I've posted finished pieces on this series before, but for this one, we're going with the half-finished with a bit of background on them! Enjoy.

It's no secret that I love Billy Corgan and The Smashing Pumpkins; I've already got 2 tattoos for the band and I've been playing with ideas for another band tattoo when I started drawing out this concept. I love the song today, it represents a lot of my own feelings & struggles, and the video is pure genius so I wanted to merge the two together for a nice dovetail tattoo. 20 January 2018: Do Not Dwell (Start Sketch) ✏️
I’m getting more into the dark and macabre art style I’ve not done for ages now. I’m a complete addict of medieval & renaissance art and now it’s coming out once again! I’m really hoping to get this piece done sometime this year. It's a combination of art pieces by the amazing macabre and one of my favourite artists, Albrecht Dürer. I created it off of his tarot collection , which is amazing by the way. I might do another mashup later this year. Don't hold your breath because I am so goddamn unfocused. Heavily inspired by Ghost. Listening to: Ghost / Watching Nurse Jackie as I’ve worked on it for a while. 2.5 hours in.

Ghost: Cirice Lyric / Nameless Ghoul
It's not a secret that I'm in love with the band Ghost. I love the melodies, the tearing riffs and the alluring lyrics Papa and the Ghouls come out with. I love the look of the Nameless Ghoul mask and as you guys know I'm obsessed with anatomy. I already have one heart on my upper arm, but what the fuck, I could use one like this on my leg, right? I might just go with the Ghoul portrait. We'll see. I've been toying with the idea of a Nameless Ghoul portrait for quite some time now, it's not just cause the masks or sexy, it's a wonderful creation. It's a representation of music, mysticism and mayhem. I love the entire vibe of the band, not just the music.

I don't think I've ever posted a photo using some of the reference material I use when I do a Dan Howell portrait. I use a lot of different ones, but for this piece, I really just wanted to capture his expression of surprise and bewilderment because it was flat out fucking hilarious. You can feel the disbelief radiating from the image. I didn't want to do my usual roses or peonies or other kinds of shit for this portrait, so I went with some of his favourite things on the planet-snacks. There's a cute little candy box, a few chocolate orange slices and a cupcake with icing piled high, topped with sprinkles and a strawberry. I think the strawberry cupcake I did off a reference photo I saw on Pinterest. I can't be sure, but I wanted to mention it anyway. I'm writing this, what a fucking month later? I can't remember everything...and a lot has gone on between then and now.

Sketching up some deliciously frozen treat tattoo designs. I've not had a Taiyaki since...2013 in Düsseldorf. God, has it really been that long? I might need to get one of these on me forever. Not just deliciousness but some pretty sweet memories too. I don't know why I'm in such a playful mood while sketching these, but I am. I'm really thinking about getting one of these somewhere on me, in full vibrant colour. Inspired to draw up some flash whilst watching LA Ink season 1
