Tattoo Talk Thurdsays Ep.1: I Think My Artist Did A Bad Tattoo On Purpose

(Yes, I know it's a day late)
So, I'm going to start a new theme here on my blog that I will try to do every Thursday.
Don't hold me to that, but when I do post tattoo content it will be on a Thursday. I'd love
for you guys to leave your tattoo experiences, good and bad in the comments below or via
my social media! Tattoos are a large part of my life and I want to expand my knowledge, as
well as share with others.  I'll mention some of my favourite artists, and their contact info
will always be down below in addition to other tattoo/modified YouTubers that I enjoy.

Inspired by the lovely Ms Qcknd on Youtube! Her links are all down below!
She’s got tonnes of tattoo and body mod related videos, so if that if your thing you
should check it out. :) Also another great Vlogger who talks tattoos/ body mods is
Kiera Rose! Her links are also down below.

Tattoos can be some of the best or worst experiences of our lives. The same
goes for piercings, but this blog is focusing on tattoos. I’ll do a piercing one soon!
Do note that the experiences listed are my own and they are my own ideas. I’m not
putting this out there to ruin anyone’s business, which could seem a bit contradictory to
the content of this blog. I’m simply putting this out there in the hopes that the artists
mentioned take this as an opportunity to enhance their tattooing skills and their business
skills. I’m not going to name names, just use city locations. I will, however, link some of my
favourite artists that are amazing down below! (These are ones who have tattooed me.)

Some of my tattoos have been the most amazing experiences of my life. The travel to get
there, getting stencilled, getting tattooed and then the final unveiling of the finished product.
Sometimes I've travelled to be tattooed. I've been tattooed all over the UK, the US, Germany, as well as Canada, New Zealand, Denmark, Switzerland and Poland. I'm always wanting to add to the list! Theres a few artists in Russia I want to go visit. We'll see about that.

Anyway, today's topic is, I Think My Artist Did A Bad Tattoo On Purpose.
Not too long ago, I wanted to start the process of doing my throat and completing my entire neck wrap piece. I wanted to do the lettering first down in the front and build the other pieces around it. (I will do a separate blog on that and the changes I've made and what I'm wanting to do.) So, I went to an artist that I've known for a while. He's done quite a few of my pieces and his prices are great. I've never really had any complaints; we'd done a few retouches here or there. My chest filigree is a little off centre that he did, but I decided that it didn't really matter all that much, and now I'm going to cover it over with something else so-. I made the appointment and asked him to do not only my throat but the stars on my face as well. The stars came out brilliant. (There will be a separate blog on face-ink).
And then we went on to the throat. I asked him to do some shading so it looked like light was coming off of the word. I asked for him to do some light shading like he'd done on my Virgin Mary tattoo that covers my left forearm. He said he could do it and went off of my stencil that I gave him. I had drawn it so it sat straight on my throat and left a bit of room for the other pieces to connect into it. He started off going a bit rough on it. Now, I know that the throat skin is a little bit different from the back of the neck or behind the ears/onto the neck where I'd been inked before, but this felt like he was like dragging across it. When he was doing the shading it felt like I was kind of being electrocuted a bit. It felt burny and uncomfortable in a way that I'd never felt while being tattooed before. I let him finish the tattoo, laying still as he leant over me. I didn't swallow that much and took shallow breaths to make it easier for him to tattoo. He rushed through the tattoo,to be honest. It took him about 15 minutes to do it. Personally, I would have taken more time, especially when it's on someone's throat where you can't really cover it up-
When it was over he told me to look at the tattoo in the mirror. I wasn't really impressed when he showed me it. I didn't want to piss him off so I just said it was nice, especially since he did a great job with the stars. It didn't look like the stencil I'd done. It was as if he'd wiped off a bit of it and guessed it, as he had done with the filigree piece, only this time it really didn't work out. I paid him and hurried out of the shop, not wanting to lose my shit. I thought about it for a few days. I wondered was I just being over dramatic? I'd asked a few mates, some tattooed, some not tattooed and some professional tattoo artists and all of them agreed it was shit and a giant mistake.
Then it got me to thinking, "Was he sick of me booking with him? And this was his way of saying that he didn't want me as a client anymore? Did he do this to me on purpose?" I mean, I understand making a mistake, but acting like he did nothing wrong and was pleased with the piece...that bothered me. I know I said, it was nice, but when someone hurries out of the shop after, it kind of lets you know that your work wasn't top. I've not been back to him since this incident and I don't think that I want to go back to him. I feel like it was done on purpose, I really do. His whole vibe was off that day and really seemed to rush me. I don't know why. I'd only missed an appointment once, maybe twice, in all the time I'd been going to him. He doesn't need my busiess if he wants to rush through a tattoo. I'm sorry to say that its the end of a friendship and costumer relationship.
The disaster....
Now I'm thinking of ways that I can cover up this tattoo and still have it mesh with the other
pieces that I'm wanting to get. Maybe some dark neo-traditional roses...I really don't think there
is too much hope for this lettering.
