Zoo Lads 🦊 Dan & Pork Chop Go To The Zoo

Since I can’t go to San Juan anymore, I decided to spend the week doing day trips here and there while stoned. I think it makes things a little more interesting, colours a little brighter and sensations all that more potent. Pork Chop and I are excited about how the day is going to turn out. There's a zoo not too far from where I live, about a half-hour away. You guys know me, I love zoos, aquariums, museums and galleries. All of the galleries that I really want to go to are out near Cambridge, so that would be a weekend in Cambridge type deal. I could probably do that next month sometime. Probably after I get my latest tattoo. I'm still torn between the two designs. I'm running out of room! I want to get both pieces, it's just a matter of who goes first. One that will piss off my mum off no end or the one tha-you know what? We'll go with the one that will piss my mum off. That had me sold there. Anyway, this isn't about tattoos, this is about the zoo!

After what feels like an eternity, we arrive at the zoo. Tickets clenched firmly in my hand I make my way to the ticket window so the woman can scan the QR code. She sees Pork Chop sitting on my shoulder and I make him wave. She likes my tattoos and comments that I have a lot of them. I laughed and told her that I had a lot more that she couldn't see. I buy a small bag of animal chow and tuck it into my pocket before wishing the ticket lady a pleasant day. What no one knows is that I'm high. On the way to the zoo, I munched on some cannabis-infused cheesecake bites and I'm flying under a decent haze. I need to just keep cool in the warm sun of early spring. I should have worn shorts. Tomorrow I will have to wear shorts.
I've not been here before. I love exploring new places. We walk past the gift shop, eyes glittering over the number of stuffed toys all around. I need to stop in here on my way out and give it more than a passing glance. I like to get small trinkets from every place I visit. I have a large collection of trinkets from all over the world. For me, it's a reminder that I got out and did something; I didn't let mental illness get in my way. (And sometimes that is a problem on trips.)
The first thing that catches my eye is two enormous black bears. They're so cute! One is napping in the sun while the other one tries to get comfortable. I have to resist the urge to want to get closer. They look so sweet, but nothing like Winnie the Pooh. Strange. The parrots next door to the bears squawk, making more than enough racket to catch my attention. I look up into the cage and see a parrot with a brilliant red tummy and tropical teal wings. The colour combination is gorgeous. The sun is shining bright and high as I make my way down the dirt paths. I'm slathered in sun cream to protect my tattoos from sun damage and my face from looking like an old leather handbag sometime down the road if I live that long. I keep walking to the left and I have no idea why I keep leaning that way. It's like a magnet pulling me over; thankfully, no one notices. Or if they do, they don't say a thing to me.

We head a little farther down the path and run into an enclosure of llamas. I almost lose my shit. I love their shaggy, curly hair cuts. It reminds me of my own mop of hair. We race over to the gate with the show and start sharing the wealth.
There's the cutest little black goat peeking out at me from behind a chainlink fence. I fill my hand with chow and carefully poke through the few fingers that will fit through the fence so that he can lick the little nibbles out of my hand. I love being able to play with animals. There's just something pure about them. I forget about the feed and start petting all of the little goats in the inclosure. It's almost like a petting zoo. I wish it was. I have so much fun with the little creatures. They all remind me of Uggie. Part of me wishes I could bring him then I realise that it's really not a place for a little pooch. He's a shy lad just like his Papito. And he might not play well with the other animals.

Danny Feeds A Mini Satan Goat :)) Above photo. Below is a baby goat licking my fingers. I guess I taste good or they secretly eat meat.

I'm pretty sure this was our first time seeing a peacock in real life.
It was an amazing experience to have.

When the peacock opened his feathers and the fan spread out behind him we were in awe. The colours so vibrant, I was hoping that he'd open up his feathers so we could steal a glance, instead, I got some brilliant photos. There was a white peacock in there too; pure as the Narnian snow. They move so gracefully. We could stay there hypnotised for the rest of the afternoon, but we have other animals. You know, for the longest time I always wondered how do you tell the males apart from the females. The answer was so simple it was staring me in the face. Males have blue and rainbow feathers, females are often dull brown in colour.

I hope that the next zoo is going to be as fun as this or even better. I've never been to that one either. It's quite a drive. Almost 2 hours from my house. Pork Chop and I are used to long trips, so two hours doesn't mean much. Ride, suncream and a slamming outfit that matches me and Chop are ready to adventure into the next zoo.

Sometimes it is difficult to blog about things that I've done or events that I've attended. I want to capture the moment perfectly. I don't want to forget a thing. I have holes in my memory, it's not just getting baked and doing them. On almost every European tour and trip, I'd been sober for the galleries, museums and zoos/aquariums and I have holes in my memory. I feel empty at the end of certain things because I will look at the photos and wonder if I took them. The memory of being there, the emotion experienced there doesn't stick on me. That's why I blog and take photos. I'm glad people enjoy the experiences with me either in person or via my blog, but it's also for me. My blog is a personalised and public journal of my daily life, adventures, recipes and more. It's a simplified version of myself.

I will be heading to another zoo tomorrow and of course, I will blog that one. More details and information will be posted at the bottom of each blog for those wanting to plan a visit. For all questions related to COVID protocol while in the zoo, ticket inquiries and more please contact each zoo individually as there might be slight changes in policy and no one wants to ruin a fun weekend out! OH MY GOD! They have a white arctic fox! He's so cute! I want to get closer, but I know that's a no go. I love foxes. That's one tattoo I need to get before I run out of room. A nice classic fox tattoo. There's so many different styles though. I should probably start to plan that out before I map out the rest of my stomach/hips and run out of room. 10 years ago people thought that I was joking when I said that I wanted to do a body suit and here I am,with about 50% of my body tattooed. If COVID hadn't hit, I'd probably be farther along in my tattoo journey. There is a new Tattoo Talk Thursday blog coming soon though! And a few other drawing related things! I can't wait to share all these new things with you guys. The camels catch my eye and we dash over to them. I remember seeing these as a kid when I went to this place with my nan. I was visiting with her and she took my siblings and me out. It was like a type of county fair. It was so much fun. I always forget how big they are until I see them in real life. I'm hoping that I'll see more of them at the other zoo that we're going to. I think they have them there, I'm not sure. I spend a good chunk of the time, wandering around, taking in the various animals. I loved the little petting zoo section the most; being able to interract with the animals is the best part of any zoo trip and I'm pretty sure for the most part, the animals like the kidness. The goats were just too adorable. That's another tattoo idea I've been tossing around for a few years. I'm thinking that I somehow incooperate it into the cover up that I want to do on my left arm. It'll be my first cover up, so I'm going to have to work with an artist on that, see what we can do with that. I've never designed a cover up piece and I know there's certain tricks to the trade, so I don't want to get my heart set on a design only to not be able to do it, like what happened in Sweden a few years back. (God, I miss Sweden. I need to spend more than just a few weeks there at a time. Such a goregous place!) They have the cutiest little monkeys in another section of the zoo. I just want to shake their little hands. They're so innocent and playful. I wish I could be that free. They chitter at one another and nibble on little pieces of fruit as they climb through the cage. I'd love to have one, if it wasn't illegal. I think a monkey would make a terrific friend. Uggie might like that one too. We leave the zoo fresh faced, camera full and with new adventures to share with friends and followers alike. We're excited about the next place. This trip is turning out better than going to San Juan, but I'm not fully sold just yet. We're still only on day one of the week. Until next time fellow adventures. Goddamn, I know how late this is. My head's just been in other places and I've had other things to complete before this. Thanks guys for understanding! I'm playing catch up with some of the other blogs from my holiday in May don't be too sore with me!
