Tattoo Talk Thursday: Kissin Kate Barlow

I have a pair of lips on my neck and I get a lot of questions about it. I've never given a straight answer until now. I'm a literature freak. I grew up reading books, exploring worlds inside my head on long car trips or in place of friends when the usual boys I played with were out without me. Holes is one of my favourite books of all time. The film version of the story is superb. And Kissin' Kate Barlow was the sexiest character. Well no, the warden was pretty damn sexy too, but Kate, damn, there was just something sexy about what a bad bitch she was.
I love lip prints on necks. It's just something about it. Some people see it as trashy or whatever, but for me, it's nothing short of pure lust. And let's face it, that woman was filled with lust. She oozed vengeance, lust for her slain lover and a fire for all things romantic. A perfect woman, really. Did I just say that my perfect woman is a fictional one? Hm. Sounds like me to be honest.
I wanted to get a little skull inside the lip prints because in the story, she only kissed the men that she killed. Hmm. Sounds a tad unfair and sexist, but who am I to comment on her sexuality? She could have been bisexual who happened to fall in love with Sam...maybe Sam was a transgender woman who was still in the closet, except he was out to her and she was a lesbian! And she hated men so she killed them because men killed her lover. Fucking hell, I'm getting carried away with this. LMAO! And I thought it would look pretty awesome having a little skull and crossbones inside the lip prints.
The tattoo is about 6 years old. I think I should get it touched up. Some of the black lines have faded a little bit, which can happen with sun exposure. I was careful with the tattoo while healing and took good care of it. Maybe it's just the light in the photos? Either way, I think a fresh pass under the needle wouldn't hurt.
My Kissin' Kate Barlow tattoo isn't my only literature tattoo! I have one for The Portrait of Dorian Gray, The Tales of Peter Rabbit and Where the Wild Things Are. I'm wanting to add onto my collection with other literary tattoos. Maybe a Wintergirls one (I'm obsessed with this book) one for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo maybe another kid one or two. I do know that I'm looking forward to sketching out a Goofy Movie tattoo which will probably be on a Dan the Doodlebug segment! Keep an eye out for that one! : )
